As Firefleet is located in the West Midlands, England. It is appropriate that an example of one file in the archives of Firefleet should be displayed. Below is the complete history of known fire stations in the West Midlands. The West Midlands has gone through a number of changes since 1911. Birmingham City absorbed part of Staffordshire and those local fire brigades came under the jurisdiction of Birmingham City. This remained until Nationalisation in 1941. In 1948 the West Midlands contained City and County Borough fire brigades. Another major change took place in 1967 when a few surrounding County Boroughs took over part of Staffordshire and these were absorbed into the West Midlands with parts of Warwickshire and Worcestershire Counties in 1974.
